"I didn't choose management consulting, I chose Avencore."
Why have you decided to join Avencore?
When I was contacted for the position at Avencore, I didn't really think about joining a consulting company after my studies.
But then I realized that Avencore is really cool. During the interviews and especially during the case study (for which I had a lot of respect) I realized that it really motivated me to see: how can I continue, how far can I go?
During the interviews I realized that I could be myself at Avencore. The whole package just fit. That's why I say: I didn't choose consulting, I chose Avencore.
"It's challenging, but it's also very interesting."

I didn't proactively apply to consulting firms, but was contacted by a headhunter. During the interviews I realized that management consulting doesn't always have to be on the business side and can actually be very interesting and technical.
-
I was contacted via LinkedIn and went through the application process. During the process I got to know a lot of different people at Avencore, which I really liked. That's why I decided to join Avencore.

The job: Working at Avencoreis very varied. I like the fact that it's very dynamic - you're not sitting in front of a PC all the time, but that doesn't mean you're always on the move either. You have to organize yourself, but it's a good mix.
What I also really like is that you work on different topics. Especially when you're on a re-design-to-cost project that really involves different departments, you can just dive into those departments. It's challenging, but it's also very interesting.
Avencore: At Avencore itself - the team. Without the team I probably wouldn't enjoy my work as much and I wouldn't always surpass myself. It's really nice to work together with my colleagues to achieve a goal. At the same time, we can still have fun.

I would say days are always different. Especially when you're working on multiple projects.
Of course you have a certain day structure that you want to work through. But it can always happen that you get a phone call or an email and then your priorities shift. So you have to be flexible.
On my last project, we often spent 2-3 days on site with the client and the rest of the time back in the office doing follow-ups and preparing for meetings.

The relationship is good, it's even on a friend-like basis. We sometimes do things together after work and talk about personal things. But it's also nice to be able to exchange ideas and discuss things on a professional level when it comes to work. So it's very easy to work together, but also to see how the other person is doing.
-
The completion of the first project that I was involved in and that I completed from the beginning to the end. We got very, very good feedback from the clients at the time. It was a great feeling to see that what we were doing as a team made sense.
And in general, of course, the team events that we have in Germany with our team, but also in France with the whole Avencore team. These are always highlights that you can look forward to throughout the year.
My tips for students:
-
I think the whole "study" experience helps me in my work. I don't necessarily mean the content aspects, but all the other skills you have to acquire during your studies. For example, how to structure yourself through time management and good planning, or how to use Microsoft programs.
-
If you decide to do it, you should enjoy project work and not be afraid to work independently, because especially at Avencore you are quickly encouraged to really perform as a consultant in front of the client. Intrinsic motivation is also important. If you meet these requirements, you might be a good fit for us.

A good consultant is motivated. Of course you will have bad days, but overall you should really want to get results.
Also, you shouldn't be afraid of challenges or making mistakes on assignments. It's better to make mistakes and do better next time.
These are soft skills that you should have regardless of your hard skills in order to be successful at Avencore.
