Why did you choose to become an Avencore consultant?
After finishing my engineering degree, I found consulting to be the ideal path to gain expertise across various industries, explore diverse careers, and learn at a faster pace.
I knew I wanted to work on projects with a specific impact and limited duration. Accordingly, I sought a challenging workplace that would enable me to advance while also respecting my life outside of work. A former schoolmate recommended Avencore to me, and after five years within the company, it continues to meet all my requirements.
What do you enjoy about your job?
What I particularly appreciate is the company's value and team dynamics. Working alongside highly stimulating individuals allows for the development of strong bonds, along with a reminiscent atmosphere of engineering school, where social moments are highly valued.
Furthermore, I appreciate the diversity of my colleagues on the customer side, the satisfaction of making substantial progress on complex issues, and the ability to witness tangible outcomes. I value the opportunity to obtain both a comprehensive and detailed perspective on technical projects simultaneously. Not every job affords the chance to avert the shutdown of a production line, accelerate vital strategic industrial endeavors for France, or increase a facility's output twofold.
Any tips for applicants?
When starting a career with Avencore, it is essential to be motivated, flexible, and maintain a positive attitude. Though being a consultant is no easy task, it can become thrilling in no time!
My advice to all newcomers:
- Do not hesitate to ask questions. It is better to start a project with an open mind than to remain uninformed until it is too late.
- Anticipate meetings and deadlines, be curious, and embrace challenges.
- Show curiosity.
- Learn to enjoy a challenge, and keep in mind that there is always more to learn.
- Do not underestimate the importance of team collaboration.
- There is no point in staying late. Avencore does not value presenteeism, but rather efficiency.
What is your favorite memory working with a client?
Several memories come to mind, starting with on-site visits, especially when dealing with complex industrial products that one never thought they would encounter in 'real life' (such as a wind turbine blade factory, a submarine, nuclear power plants, etc.). I also recall a very pleasant evening with a client who invited us to dinner after a year-long project; we have since developed a true friendship.
